Trip to the Alternative

Come and join us on January 10th for a trip to the Alternative service.

This church service is put on with youth in mind. Everything from the message, to the videos, to the music is directed at youth. There is lots of youth in attendance; a live band that plays great music; and Dave Overholt, a pastor with a gift of delivering a message that youth can both understand and apply to their lives.

The service is held at Calvin Christian School on West Fifth in Hamilton.

We will be meeting at Gateway Church at 6:30pm. We will then drive together to the service, and return to Gateway at approx. 9:30pm.

Ski & Snowboard at Blue Mountain

Come and join the youth at Gateway Church for a day of ski & snowboarding at Blue Mountain.

FRIDAY, JANUARY 30th

Leaving Gateway Church at 8:30 am

Returning to Gateway Church at 10:00 pm

What to bring: lunch and supper OR money to buy your food there; locker money ( if needed); all your gear to keep you warm and dry; skiis and boards if you have them.

The cost is as follows:

Lift ticket: Youth/student $25, Adult $35

Transportation: $10

Rental: $22 (if needed)

Helmet $5 (if needed)

Lesson: $8 (for beginner if needed)

Here are some more details for you...

We are meeting at the church at 4:30ish. The bus is leaving at 5:00pm. Please be on time....

Dinner is not provided, so please eat before you come or pack something to eat on the way. We will not be stopping.

All meals and snacks are provided, however, there is a 'tuck shop' there if you want to bring some pocket money.

Be sure to pack warm clothes for outdoor games, as well as inside gym type clothes and shoes.

We will be returning to Gateway between 5:00 and 6:00pm on Sunday.

AXIS Derby Van in the Caledonia Fair!

You may have noticed a certain colourful van on Sunday, or driving by Gateway during the week.
Axis is sponsoring and entering it into the Caledonia Fair Smash Up Derby on Sunday.

The Derby is at 1:30 pm. Pay for the Fair and you get into the Derby as a part of your admission.

Come on out to cheer for our van and it's driver Kyle!

2009 Fall Start Up Dates!

Kids are back at school, and our summer is officially coming to a close. We had a great time at our Summer Youth 2009 programs (G3, B3, Breakfast Fuel, Wonderland, Bonfires, Pool Party BBQ's!)
but it's now time to re-launch our Fall programs and ministries. Check out the Parent Letter on our website for all the details about this up and coming year. Below are the starting dates and times for Sept. Looking forward to a great year together!

Fuel: Life Support Groups - Sept 20th
Grade 9-12 - 10:15 - 11:15 am
Grade 6-8 - 11:15 am - 12:30 pm

Youth Worship Band - Grade 6-12 - Sept 21 - Dinner at 6:30 pm (bring a couple bucks to help out with the food), practice starts at 7:00 pm. Takes place at the Neudorf residence: 32 Burke Drive, Caledonia ON.

Quizzing (gr 4-12) - Sept 20th - 1- 2:30 pm - Don't know about Quizzing? Come this Sunday and find out more and for a free pizza lunch!

BLAST (gr 6-8) - Sept 22nd - 7-9pm - Parents, wondering more about Blast and what it's all about? Drop your kids off for the program, and then spend 30 minutes to find out more and ask questions.

AXIS (gr 9-12) - Sept 23rd - 7-9 pm. - Live in Caledonia and don't have a way to get to Gateway Church? Axis has a Van thanks to Mr J's Taxi that picks up at McDonald's at 6:40 pm and the north Tim Horton's at 6:50 pm and returns back at McDonald's at approximately 9:05 pm.

So this last week at Fuel we watched a mind blowing talk by Rob Bell called "Everything is Spiritual." We mentioned briefly about the areas we thought stood out to us, but let's continue the conversion below in the comments section. Thoughts? Questions? Observations?

End of Exams Party with Local Show

In December we launched our "Local Show" concert series. It was an awesome night and we are pleased to announce the next Local Show on January 28th at 7pm. For those of you in high school this is your last day of Winter Exams so we are holding an "End of Exams Party" with a free spaghetti dinner from 7pm - 7:45pm and then bands from 8 - 10ish. Bands playing at this Local Show are Halfway Heroes, Toxic Shock, 2x the Mono and Gruve.

This Sunday Fuel presents, AWE: an Awesome Worship Experience. This event is run by our youth, but it's for whoever would like to come! Music, Prayer, Teaching all geared to our youth but relevant to all ages. Dec 14th, 6:30 pm at Gateway Church.

FALL RETREATS! Junior and Senior High!

Coming up in October we have two retreats planned. First off Junior High ... We are heading to Muskoka Woods with hundreds of other kids and their youth groups from around Ontario for:
BEDLAM 2008! Bedlam is an amazing time, and has a LONG history of being one of the best weekends you as a Junior High could ever have and will remember for a life time. I went to Bedlam as a Junior High myself in 199 ... well never mind about what year it was, but I will always cherish those days at the Woods, and I'm so looking forward to going with you guys and girls this year! Click on the picture above to download a registration form. BEDLAM 2008 Oct 24-26th.
Price goes up after Oct 12th, so save your parents some money and get those forms in.

SENIOR HIGH's ... feeling left out? Well don't be, cause from Oct 17th-19th we are going Camping! We're heading out to Fisherville (ignore that the registration form says Flesherville, forgive me, I'm new to these parts). Your form is above as well, click the image to download it and print it off. You don't want to miss out on this event, and for that matter your friends will want to come too! All you have to do is ask them. This fun filled weekend is only going to cost you $25 if you get your forms in by Oct 12th ($35 after the 12th, still a great deal, but save some of that money!).

Hey all,

September is here. School is well underway ... whoops, sorry if you're on the internet right now the last thing I'm sure you want to hear about is school!

Although we had a great time this summer at Youth Church, September is always an exciting time. Quizzing already had a head start last week and is up and running, but this week we have our kick-offs for BLAST, AXIS and FUEL.

Quizzing!

I don't want to alarm you, BUT, September is just around the corner. We will be announcing very soon all of our programs and ministries that will be happening throughout the year.

As a little bit of a teaser, I want to tell you a little bit about Quizzing. Quizzing is for Grade 7's-12's and it's your chance to learn your Bible (this year we're studying Luke!), compete against other churches, travel around southern Ontario and have a jolly good time doing it. Want to know more? Or you're saying to yourself, "Geepers, that sounds swell! How do I get involved?"

I've got good news ... there's still a month left of summer!
I've got bad news ... there's only a month left of summer :(

We kicked off B3 and Faithgirlz last night, which if you missed (Junior Highers') both programs are running every Tuesday this month!

August 7th, which is tomorrow, is ULTIMATE for Senior High. We're meeting at McKinnon Park at 1pm.

Also for Senior High's next week, Aug 14th, is Fireside AWE. 8-10pm at the McPherson's.

For everyone, our grand finale for the summer is ... CANADA'S WONDERLAND on Thursday Aug 21st!
We’ve got a bus booked and we’ll have lunches packed
(closer to the date).
All you need to do is get $40 and save
some money for dinner and you are set for the day! Bring your bathing suits if you want to hit up Splashworks.
Parents, if you have more than 2 kids in your family, don't fret, after paying for the first two, all the others are only $20 each!

Hope everyone's summer is going uber well, catch you guys sometime this month.

Summer in Caledonia so far ...

Well we're about three weeks into the Summer of 2008. It's been wetter than I could ever imagine, and with that our Junior High Lawn Bowling was cut short, but don't fret, it will be rescheduled to August! Last week we had our first senior high FIRESIDE AWE. Did you miss it or forget that it was happening? No worries, there's another one next month on Aug 14th! Thanks to Tim, Spencer and Richard for leading us in worship and everyone else for the good times.

This week we are heading to the Binbrook Conservation Area for a fun filled day at the beach, playing games, volleyball, eating some good food. We'll be there from 2 -8pm on Thursday July 24th! Call the church office if you need more info or to RSVP!
